WHAT IS ACTIGRAPHY?
|
|
Actigraphy is the use of instruments
sensitive to movement, typically worn on the wrist, to
record activity over time. All models of our Actiwatch
activity monitors feature digital integration, which is the
most accurate measure of both movement level and intensity.
With each subject movement an accelerometer generates a
variable voltage that is digitally processed and sampled at
a frequency of 32 Hz. The signal is integrated over a
user-selected epoch and a value expressed as "Activity
Counts" is recorded in on-board memory. Downloaded
data represent a quantifiable level over time. Data
may be expressed graphically as actograms or reported in
ASCII format numerically as total Activity counts per epoch.

Actigraphy provides a means to measure sleep quality in
individuals suffering from sleep disorders, such as
insomnia, PLM, sleep apnea and others. An actigraph can
also be used in many other applications.
Like all of
our Actiwatches, the Actiwatch-64 use actigraphy
principles to record activity information and can be
used for monitoring sleep quality.
The AW-64 is the actigraphy device of choice for
diagnosing insomnia and documenting circadian rhythms
disorders.
